Stone

A nice record of the build Mate - I have since improved the design to include a backrest made of board.

Although adding to the wind resistance - the improvement in comfort and security is worthwhile.

I use 10mm OSB as being both cheap and very weather resistant (it's compressed wood chips bonded with resin) - the major benefit is ensuring that your movements are not skylined.

Just think, extension pieces to support a roof of the same material, sides as well - you can make a palace with this design!

Folks, did I mention that once the Pheasants are sorted, we will be running a 'High Seats for Deer course' in Stone's back yard ?

Seriously! There are many designs of seat that a stalker can employ, dependant on his specific needs, and made out of proofed timber they cost peanuts and last for years. :) The idea of running a 'course' is to allow stalkers a great day in like-minded company - while running through the considerations necessary for effective high seat use and construction. The cutting lists for all versions also make a nice reference for future use!

Rgds

Ian :)

Hi Rich great post, just a few Qs
1)Are the uprights 5x2 outside fixed to 4x2 cause you only listed 2x lengths of 5x2?
2)How wide are the steps roughly?
3)How far from the top do you drill the holes in the legs for the coach bolts?
4)How wide do you set the legs apart at the bottem with the slider rail roughly?

Sorry to be a pain.
Your step by step guide looks quite easy to follow, even for me ,Im going to give it a go in the next month or so.Thanks in advance :Cheers
